20-29 twink guide for BGs in World of Warcraft
- 1-60 Hardcore Speed Leveling Addon -
Guide to 20-29 twinking
Notes:
- In all the equipment builds I haven't included the AB rewards, if you can get your mittens on them they are often a better option.
- For the trinkets I heard a rumor its possible to get the Arena Grand Master, I'm not sure about this, but that would DEFINITELY be the way to go if it is possible. Apart from that, the pvp trinket and any of the engineering trinkets.
- If your having troubles leveling to 19, then check out Joana's Classic WoW leveling guides.
Engineering gives you access to the following useful items: Mind
Control Cap, Iron Grenades, Mithril Frag Bombs, Minor
Recombobulator, Parachute Cloak, Net-O-Matic, Shrink Ray, Goblin
Mortar, Catseye Ultra Goggles, Spell Power Xtreme Goggles,
Goblin Sapper Charges and Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt.
Gnomes get to a +15 eng bonus that allows them to wear the goblin rocket helm, deep dive helm, and hi-explosive bombs. This is a very nice racial.
Incase you find the equipment sections a little confusing;
- If there is a / it means an option to what you can use, depending
on what stats you want.
- If an item is in (brackets) it is an upgrade you can receive
later.
- The stats in [bracket] are enchants, if it has a / in it there is
an option as to what is the best enchant.
Shaman:
Seeing as this is my class i thought I'd talk about it first:
The shaman is an extremely effective twink in this bracket, they have frost shock, earthbind and the fastest form of travel (except dash and sprint) for this level, ghost wolf.
I have seen people say that shamans aren't that good in melee without windfury, but this isn't true, they do lack the awesome burst damage of wf but rockbiter gives a solid, consistent boost to dps, so it gets the job done.
Talent Builds:
Imp Ghost Wolf is a must, in WSG movement is everything and having 1
sec ghost wolf allows you to make the shift to GW without losing too
much ground on your target.
Because Imp GW is so important i find there are only really 2 build
options;
0/20/0:
5/5 Shield Proficiency
2/5 Ancestral Healing
2/2 Improved Ghost Wolf
1/1 Two-Handed Axes and Maces
5/5 Thundering Strikes
5/5 Flurry
This gives you a lot of melee power, plain and simple. 1v1 youre basically unbeatable with this build.
0/15/5
5/5 Shield Proficiency
2/5 Ancestral Healing
2/2 Improved Ghost Wolf
1/1 Two-Handed Axes and Maces
5/5 Thundering Strikes
5/5 Improved Healing Wave
A little less powerful 1v1 but the fast HW is great for healing FCs.
I find that the shocks arent powerful enough yet to warrant putting the points in elemental, but thats a matter of opinion. The option to go full resto is there, but that involves missing out on imp GW, which i don't find worth it.
Equipment:
Head: Enduring Cap [+150mana]
Neck: River Pride Choker
Shoulders: Watchmens Pauldrons
Back: Tigerstrike Mantle (Battle Healers Cloak) [+5 resists]
Chest: Cutthroats Vest of the Eagle / Raptor Hunter Tunic [+100hp]
Wrists: Barbaric Bracers (Emissary Cuffs of the Eagle) [+9 sta]
Hands: Brawler Gloves [+15agi]
Waist: Moss Cinch
Legs: Infiltrators Pants of the Eagle / Triprunner Dungarees
[+100hp]
Feet: Harbinger Boots [+speed]
Main Hand: Dreamslayer [+22int]
Off Hand: Vile Protector [+7sta]
Ring: Seal of Sylvanus
Ring: Plains Ring (Legionnaires / Advisors Ring)
Two Hand: Corpsemaker / Cobalt Crusher
[Crusader/Lifestealing/+25agf]
- If you can manage to get Emissary Cuffs they are the way to go,
but they're extremely difficult to get.
- You have the choice of going for the Triprunner Dungarees if you
want a heap of +agi with some +str and +sta, but i rather more +sta
and +int.
- The Raptor Hunter Tunic has big +sta but no +int, you can choose
between that and the Cutthroats vest.
Hunter:
One of the best classes in this bracket, and they twink very nicely. They have cheetah aspect, frost trap, concussive shot, wingclip and track humanoids.. all VERY useful abilities in WSG.
Talent Builds:
Most of the best hunters i know are survival spec'd, it gives you the ability cope with most of the situations in WSG and come out on top, marksmanship is also a valid option, especially for Night Elves, however beast mastery is a lacking at such low lvls.
0/20/0
5/5 Improved Concussive Shot
1/5 Efficiency
5/5 Lethal Shots
1/1 Aimed Shot
3/3 Hawk Eye
5/5 Mortal Shots
Where you put the spare 1 point (efficiency) is up to you, but i find that you get most out of a little efficiency. This build is best suited to Night Elves, as shadowmeld -> aimed shot is fantastic.
0/0/20
3/3 Humanoid Slaying
2/5 Deflection
5/5 Entrapment/Wingclip
1/2 Trap efficiency
1/1 Deterrence
5/5 Survivalist
3/3 Surefooted
This build is just in my opinion on how i would play my hunter, with a lot of +sta youre VERY hard to kill, which is a big advantage in WSG.
There are LOTS of different options you can take even with only 20 points to spend, so really its up to you, these are only two builds that I would recommend.
Q u o t e:
Rufust:
Marksmanship
5/5 Improved Concussive Shot
Survival
5/5 Deflection
5/5 Improved wing clip
2/2 Savage Strikes
1/1 Deterrence
2/2 Trap Efficiency
This is built to slow/stop flag runners and to give you as many
survival options as possible. With deterrence turned on I can
prolong my life in melee and mortal strikes allows me to do some
pretty good damage with my Corpsemaker 2 hand.
The only thing I would change is the 2 points in trap
efficiency. I may move that to Survivalist or Improved Aspect of
the Hawk.
Q u o t e:
Killed:
Improved Aspect of the Hawk-5
Endurance Training-5
Bestial Swiftness-1
Unleashed Fury-5
Ferocity-4
Equipment:
Head: Enduring Cap [+100hp/+8agi]
Neck: River Pride Choker (WSG Necklace)
Shoulders: Watchmens Pauldrons / Forest Tracker Epaulets / Mantle of
Thieves
Back: Tigerstrike Mantle [+5resists/70arm]
Chest: Raptor Hunter Tunic [+100hp/+4stats]
Wrists: Barbaric Bracers (Emissary Cuffs of Agility / the Monkey)
[+9 sta]
Hands: Wolfclaw Gloves [+15agi]
Waist: Ghostwalker Belt of Agility/the Monkey / Deviate Scale Belt
Legs: Triprunner Dungarees / Panther Hunter Leggings [+100hp/+8agi]
Feet: Harbinger Boots [+7sta/agi]
Main Hand: The Butcher/Zealot Blade [Lifestealing/+15agi]
Off Hand: Zealot Blade [+15agi]
Range: Ironweaver / Master Hunter's Rifle [+5/+7range dmg]
Ring: Seal of Sylvanus / Plains Ring
Ring: Basalt Ring of Monkey / agility (WSG Ring)
Two Hand: Corpsemaker [Lifestealing/+25agi]
- Same deal with the Emissary Cuffs as before, if you can get them,
do.
- The Panther Hunter leggings have more +sta but -agi, so they
should be considered.
- For the weapon you have quite a healthy choice, either Corpsemaker
on its own or dual Zealot Blades, or The Butcher and a Zealot Blade.
- The enchants all depend on your build/play style, the ones you
have are basically up to you.
- If you are REALLY keen on +agi you can go for a bunch of AH lvl 29
greens instead of watchmen pauldrons, enduring cap, harbinger boots
and plains ring, but i would advise against it.
- Note that this is the one of the only classes i wouldn't get
+speed to boots for, simply because cheetah aspect works indoors.
Rogues:
They are the most common twink class in 20-29 BG, they are the class
that gets the most out of twinking.
Due to there being an agi to lvl ratio that determines crit and
dodge% they get INSANE numbers, it is possible to have 45% dodge
chance BEFORE evasion.
Despite not having kidney shot or blind yet they are still extremely
effective; kidney shot, vanish, sprint and crippling poison are all
VERY useful in WSG.
Talent Builds:
From Donkeepunch:
0/8/12:
2/2 Improved Sinister Strike
3/3 Improved Gouge
3/3 Improved Backstab
5/5 Master of Deception
5/5 Oppurtunity
2/3 Improved Ambush
Dagger ambush/backstab spec.
16/4/0:
5/5 Malic
2/3 Improved Eviscerate
3/3 Ruthlessness
1/1 Relentless Strike
5/5 Lethality
2/2 Improved Sinister Strike
2/3 Improved Gouge
Swords crit/spam SS spec.
0/20/0:
2/2 Improved Sinister Strike
3/3 Improved Gouge
5/5 Precision
5/5 Deflection
1/1 Riposte
4/5 Dual Wield Specialization
Swords combat spec.
0/20/0:
2/2 Improved Sinister Strike
3/3 Improved Gouge
1/5 Precision
5/5 Deflection
1/1 Riposte
5/5 Dagger Specialization
Dagger combat spec.
Equipment:
Head: Pathfinder Hat of Agility / the Monkey [+100hp/+8agi]
Neck: River Pride Choker (WSG necklace)
Shoulders: Watchmens Pauldrons / Forest Tracker Epaulets / Mantle of
Thieves
Back: Tigerstrike Mantle [+5resists/70arm/+dodge/+stealth]
Chest: Raptor Hunter Tunic [+100hp/+4stats]
Wrists: Barbaric Bracers (Emissary Cuffs of Agility / the Monkey)
[+9 sta]
Hands: Wolfclaw Gloves [+15agi]
Waist: Ghostwalker Belt of Agility / the Monkey
Legs: Triprunner Dungarees / Panther Hunter Leggings [+100hp/+8agi]
Feet: Harbinger Boots / Warsong Boots [+speed]
Main Hand: The Butcher / Zealot Blade / Toxic Revenger / Claw of the
Shadowmancer[Lifestealing/+15agi]
Off Hand: Zealot Blade / Outlaw Sabre / Torturing Poker / Vendetta
(WSG swords / WSG Daggers) [+15agi]
Ranged: Nightstalker Bow [+2dmg]
Ring: Seal of Sylvanus / Plains Ring
Ring: Basalt Ring of Monkey / agility (WSG Ring)
- Basically the same options as with the hunter; you can go all out
+agi or you can have a balanced mix between +agi and +sta. I
personally recommend you make sure you have plenty of +sta, because
although its nice to deal large amounts of dmg, surviving is
(funnily enough) rather important.
- For your weapons you have a nice selection depending on whether
your a sword, dagger/sword or dagger rogue. Torturing poker has the
best dps for dagger and Zealot Blade has best dps for sword, The
Butcher is a main hand weapon and has +agi so a butcher/zealot is
good for sword rogues, outlaw blade needs consideration too
however(for horde).
- For the weapon enchants i would advise lifestealing on main hand
and +agi on off, but its up to you, get dual +agi or +dmg or even
crusader if you like.
- Again, Emissary cuffs if you can.
Warrior:
Warriors dont quite get as much out of twinking as rogues due to
there being no str to lvl ratio.
At lvl 29 they dont have intercept which is only a little concern,
they have hamstring and charge, both great for stopping enemy FCs,
and with huge hp and armor they are great group FCs.
Talent Build:
In my opinion you can go one of two ways with a warrior build; you can go fury/prot for piercing howl (or go full fury for dual spec if you want to do that), or you can go arms/fury.
15/5/0
3/3 Improved Rend
5/5 Deflection
2/2 Improved Charge
3/3 Deep Wounds
2/2 Improved Overpower
5/5 Cruelty
This is basically a rogue (and to a lesser extent hunter) killing build, and seeing as there are so many rogues (and hunters) in 20-29bg it is very effective and useful to your team, a human warrior with this build is even more effective.
0/11/9
5/5 Cruelty
5/5 Unbridled Wrath
1/1 Piercing Howl
5/5 Shield Specialization
4/5 Iron Will
This is fantastic for being a FC, but i don't like it personally because i don't really like Unbridled Wrath. still piercing howl is almost worth it.
Equipment:
Head: Frostreaver Crown [+100hp]
Neck: River Pride Choker
Shoulders: Thick Scale Shoulderpads of the Bear / Stamina
Back: Tigerstrike Mantle [+5 resists]
Chest: Avengers Armor / Fire Hardened Hauberk [+100hp]
Wrists: Pugilist Bracers [+9sta]
Hands: Grubbis Paws [+7str/+15agi]
Waist: Girdle of Golem Strength
Legs: Dual Reinforced Leggins [+100hp]
Feet: Caverndeep Trudgers [+speed]
Main Hand: Dreamslayer [Crusader]
Off Hand: Vile Protector / Marbled Buckler [+7sta]
Ranged: Nightstalker Bow [+2dmg]
Ring: Seal of Sylvanus / Basalt ring of the Bear / Stamina
Ring: Plains Ring (WSG ring)
Two Hand: Corpsemaker / Cobalt Crusher [Crusader/+25agi]
-If you go for the fury/prot spec use Vile Protector and
Dreamslayer, if you go arms/fury use Corpsemaker or Cobalt Crusher.
-For the rings, get the seal of sylvanus if your horde, if not get
the basalt ring until you hit honored with the sentinels.
Druids:
Druids are extremely useful in WSG, as everyone no doubt knows. The
key to twinking a druid is making sure they have as much stamina as
possible while still leaving them with enough mana to heal.
I think that druids have been hit hardest by changing the brackets
from 21-30, losing travel form AND NS is just insane.. but they are
still fantastic FCs and healers.
Talent Builds:
Although you CAN go full resto, feline swiftness is far, FAR to useful to miss out on, in my opinion. I would strongly advise to stay away from balance except for one point in natures grasp if you like.
1/13/6
5/5 Ferocity
2/2 Improved Bash
3/5 Thick Hide/Feral Instinct
2/2 Feline Swiftness
1/1 Feral Charge
5/5 Furor
1/5 Natures Focus
1/1 Natures Grasp
The lack of 5/5 natures focus is annoying but the speed of feline
swiftness and the snaring/interruption of feral charge is worth
sacrificing it.
Depending on how you play, you can skip feral charge and/or natures
grasp to put more points in natures focus.
Whether you choose thick hide or feral instinct is a matter of
personal choice, i would advise thick hide so your that bit tougher
while in bear. You can even skip imp bash and put 5 points in either
if you want, though after snaring an enemy FC with feral charge, i
like the extra second of bash to be able to shift and root them.
0/0/20
5/5 Improved Mark of the Wild
5/5 Natures Focus
5/5 Improved Healing Touch
1/1 Insect Swarm
3/3 Improved Rejuvenation
1/5 Tranquil Spirit
This one is for healers, it will make you more popular, but without NS I find this to be a waste.
Equipment:
Head: Enduring Cap [+100hp]
Neck: River Pride Choker
Shoulders: Watchmens Pauldrons
Back: Tigerstrike Mantle (Battle Healers Cloak) [+5 resists]
Chest: Cutthroats Vest of the Eagle / Raptor Hunter Tunic [+100hp]
Wrists: Barbaric Bracers (Emissary Cuffs of the Eagle) [+9 sta]
Hands: Brawler Gloves [+7str/+15agi]
Waist: Moss Cinch
Legs: Infiltrators Pants of the Eagle [+100hp]
Feet: Harbinger Boots [+7sta]
Ring: Seal of Sylvanus / Basalt Ring of the Eagle
Ring: Plains Ring (WSG Ring)
Two Hand: Rod of the Sleepwalker (WSG Staff) [+22int] / Manual Crowd
Pummeler [+25agi]
- Basically the same as the Shaman set, gives you alot of +sta and
still a decent mana pool.
- The Raptor Hunter Tunic has more +sta than the cutthroats vest, so
thats up to you.
- Again, Emissary Cuffs if you can.
- If you choose a resto druid you might want to go for some more
+int gear instead of the heavy +sta gear here.
Mages:
Casters get the least out of twinking, but still getting a large
amount of +int and some decent +sta on a mage can make them very,
very nasty.
Mages have frost nova, sheep and blink at this lvl which gives them
good mobility and snaring abilities.
Talent Builds:
You can get away with any of the three trees, all are good for their different reasons, frost is the most suited to WSG though. It seems to be best to put all your points in the one tree but if anyone has a good combo then please let me know.
20/0/0
5/5 Improved Arcane Missiles
5/5 Arcane Concentration
2/5 Wand Specialization
1/1 Evocation
5/5 Improved Arcane Explosion
2/2 Improved Counterspell
Basically this gives you imp ae and imp cs.. both very useful.
0/20/0
5/5 Improved Fireball
5/5 Impact
1/1 Pyroblast
5/5 Ignite
2/2 Flame Throwing
2/3 Burning Soul
You can swap the points around if you use Flamestrike or Fire Blast a lot, but this build gives you pyroblast. Makes you a great DD and with +spell power it would be ok.
Q u o t e:
Throwie:
Note: with the mage spec, having Pyroblast at level 29 in WSG is
a waste because, unless you are hiding on the roof there are not
many times at all that you can get off a 6 second cast spell
before its interupted or out of range
0/0/20
4/5 Improved Frost Bolt
5/5 Permafrost
3/3 Winters Chill
2/2 Improved Frost Nova
3/3 Improved Blizzard
1/1 Cold Snap
2/2 Arctic Reach
This is definitely my favourite build for WSG, gives you MUCH better snaring abilities, you can move a point from imp blizz or imp frost nova over to imp frost bolt if you use that more.
Equipment:
Head: Elders Hat of the Eagle / Spellpower Goggles Extreme [+8int]
Neck: Basalt Necklace of the Eagle
Shoulders: Berylline Pads
Back: Knights Cloak of the Eagle [+70arm]
Chest: Beguiler Robes [+100hp]
Wrists: Stoneridge Bracers [+9sta]
Hands: Hotshot Pilots Gloves [+mana regen]
Waist: Belt of Arugal / Warsong Sash
Legs: Elders Pants of the Eagle [+8int]
Feet: Acidic Walkers / Nightsky Boots[+speed]
Range: Starfaller
Ring: Deep Fathom Ring (WSG ring)
Ring: Plains Ring
Two Hand: Rod of the Sleepwalker (WSG staff) [+22int/+30spellpower]
- Pretty basic, all relatively easy to get your hands on, gives you
alot of +int and +sta.
- Go for the Warsong Sash if horde.
- Measles has got me thinking that; if you feel you had enough +int
and +sta from the blues you could benefit greatly from some
+fire/frost/arcane (depending on your spec) legs, necklace, cloak
and possibly even ring.
Priests:
Twinked priests are nice but to me, a little disappointing, For my builds they need as much mana as possible, but also need a decent +sta.
Measles full shadow and high stamina build gives the priest alot more survivability and power 1v1
Talent Builds:
With 1.10 there is now basically only one build for priests that i would consider, pre 1.10 the lack of imp pw:s made a HUGE difference, now that the weakened soul effect is 15 seconds without talents, the necessity to put the 8 points into discipline is gone.
0/2/18:
2/2 Healing Focus
5/5 Blackout
2/2 Improved Shadow Word: Pain
3/5 Shadow Focus
2/2 Improved Psyhcic Scream
2/5 Improved Mind Blast
1/1 Mindflay
3/3 Shadow Reach
Basically gives you everything you could want for pvp as a priest at 29. If you like spirit tap, you could shift points around the recieve that, i personally dont like it in pvp as it encourages you to KB hunt.
I would advise you DO get healing focus.. for 2 points it is insanely good, and even if your shadow spec'd.. you will still have to heal at the very least yourself.
Equipment
Head: Spellpower Goggles Extreme [+150 mana]
Neck: Basalt Necklace of the Eagle
Shoulders: Berylline Pads
Back: Knights Cloak of the Eagle (WSG cloak)[+70arm]
Chest: Beguiler Robes / Mechbuilders Overalls [+100hp]
Wrists: Glowing Magical Bracers [+24healing power/+9sta]
Hands: Hotshot Pilots Gloves / Stoneridge Bracers [+mana
regen/+9sta/+20 shadow dmg]
Waist: Belt of Arugal / Warsong Sash
Legs: Elders Pants of the Eagle [+150mana]
Feet: Acidic Walkers [+speed]
Main Hand: Death Speakers Sceptre [+30 spell power]
Off Hand: Omega Orb / Orb of Mistmantle
Range: Starfaller
Ring: Deepfathom Ring (WSG Ring)
Ring: Plains Ring
Two Hand: Rod of the Sleepwalker (WSG staff) [+22int]
- you can pick and choose between the various +spell power gear and int to what suits you best.
Paladins:
Paladins Twink rather nicely, strong armor and a lot of hp works well with them. They have their blessings, most notably blessing of freedom, so they are great at escorting and not bad at flag carrying themselves.
Talent Build
I haven't ever rolled a pally an since they have just been updated i wont try to comment on their talent build just yet.
Equpiment:
Head: Frostreaver Crown [+150mana]
Neck: River Pride Choker
Shoulders: Thick Scale Shoulderpads of the Eagle
Back:
Chest: Avengers Armor [+4stats]
Wrists: Pugilist Bracers [+9sta]
Hands: Grubbis Paws [+7str]
Waist: Girdle of Golem Strength
Legs: Phalanx Leggings of the Eagle[+150mana]
Feet: Caverndeep Trudgers [+speed]
Main Hand: Dreamslayer [Crusader/+22int/Icey]
Off Hand: Marbled Buckler [+7sta]
Range: Tigerstrike Mantle [+5 resists]
Ring: Basalt ring of the Eagle (Protectors ring)
Ring: Plains Ring
Two Hand: Corpsemaker/Cobalt Crusher [Crusader/+22int/Icey]
Warlock:
Not a hugely powerful class in this bracket, yet when twinked and played well they can be surprisingly powerful. No fellhound or Hellfire holds them back only a little. Fear is a fantastic way of stopping a runaway flag and seduce is CC, and CC is always useful in pvp.
Talent Builds:
I've never played a warlock, but there seems to be plenty of options, none that seem to me to be especially good for WSG, I could be wrong so let me know if i am.
0/9/11
4/5 Demonic Embrace
5/5 Improved Shadow Bolt
5/5 Aftermath
5/5 Devastation
1/1 Shadow Burn
This looked like quite a nice build, gives some effects that can snare and improved crit%, as well as adds a good deal of hp.
5/15/0
5/5 Demonic Embrace
3/3 Improved Imp
4/5 Fel Intellect
3/3 Improved Succubus
5/5 Improved Corruption
I liked the look of this because it improves your imp and lengthens seduce, as well as getting imp corruption.

- Same as the mage, correct me if there are any warlock specific
items that are better than these listed.
- Go for the Warsong Sash if your horde, if alliance stick with the
Belt of Arugal.
